Tasty Tuesday: Sissy's Southern Kitchen & Bar in Dallas

Welcome to Tasty Tuesday!

Recently, we found ourselves eating at the same ole’ restaurants in Dallas, Tx way too often. Our new mission in life, however, is to discover new restaurants to add to our repertoire of “go to places.”

Last week we had the pleasure of eating at Sissy’s Southern Kitchen & Bar and it was incredible!

The vegan options were super tasty too (shockingly). I know it’s hard to imagine a vegan option at a southern restaurant but believe me, I found it!

Sissy’s was established in February 2012 by Lisa Garza, a Next Food Network Star contestant. What we loved about this place are the details! The atmosphere, rustic-chic décor, screened-in porch and china plates make this place one of Dallas’ most Instagrammed restaurant interiors according to D Magazine.

Here is what you should order:

Starters

Squash Puppies | Whipped Texas honey guild butter & jalapeño jelly | Vegetarian

Curry Deviled Eggs | Indian red curry, créme fraiche & tobiko caviar | Vegetarian (if you eat fish)

Salads

*Three Beet Salad | Arugula, spinach, dill, granny smith apple, pecans | Vegan

*Request with no cheese or dressing. Ask for oil, balsamic and garlic.

Brunch

Chicken and Waffles | Sissy’s signature fried chicken w/ a buttermilk waffle, honey butter & Steen’s cane syrup

Sissy's Benedict | Lump crab cake, cornbread muffin, poached eggs, hollandaise, pickled jalapeño & potato hash

Short Rib Hash | Braised short rib & potato country hash w/ 2 sunny side up eggs

Sides

Potato Hash | Vegan

Drinks

Mimosa Carafe | Moët Chandon w/fresh juice medley

We give this place 5/5 stars. We will definitely be back for more! Taste a little piece of heaven and book your reservation here.
