LYFE TEA 14 DAY"TEATOX":FIRST THOUGHTS &OVERVIEW
Who I Choose and Why I am Teatoxing (My Symptoms)
The company I choose to order my detox from is called LYFE TEA (http://lyfetea.com/). I choose this company because my research showed that their detoxing program is gentle and smooth (not harsh to the point where I am constantly using the bathroom). I also choose Lyfe Tea because they use a natural, loose leaf tea to help your body metabolize fat and curb cravings. The loose leaf is supposed to help you clean your digestive tract by removing unwelcomed toxins that could be preventing weight loss and aiding nutrient deficiencies. Drinking the tea will not only eliminate impurities but also boost your energy levels.
The Lyfe Tea website says:
Lyfe Tea is a delicious blend of traditional herbs that aids in digestion and eliminates toxins released from fat cells during weight loss. It is an ultimate way to calm and cleanse your body. Lyfe Tea gives you energy and elevates your mood. It will boost your energy level without the aid of artificial ingredients. Lyfe Tea combines the superfood Moringa with other natural, beneficial ingredients to promote a feeling of fullness and suppress appetite while giving your body extreme nutrition. Use Lyfe Tea daily to reach your weight loss goals naturally and effectively.
I was further compelled to order my teatox form this company because the reviews – found on YouTube – said that this 14 Day detox can help me reduced some of the symptoms I was suffering from on a daily basis.
MY SYMPTOMS ARE…
Extreme migraines – If I do not take my medication, I can get severe migraines. I remember an incident last year when my migraine got so bad I started to lose my vision! On that day I had to go to the ER because I was puking everywhere and couldn’t stand the sight of light. I mean, even the sight of darkness hurt my head.
Bloating – I look like I have a small child growing inside of me sometimes! It’s ridiculous.
Sluggishness/Fatigue – I tend to get tired easily these days. Tired to the point where I feel the need to go to bed at 6pm or at least by sunset.
Constipation and a Bad Elimination Process – Self-explanatory.
What I Ordered
I ordered the 14 Day Teatox (1 Morning Tea and 1 Detox Tea). The site claims that the Morning Tea will give you excess energy and enhance your mood. “It will boost your energy level without the aid of artificial ingredients. Morning Lyfe Tea combines the super food Moringa with other natural, beneficial ingredients to promote a feeling of fullness and suppress appetite while giving your body extreme nutrition.” The Detox Tea (aka evening tea because you drink it in the evening) is essentially a colon cleanse. It cleans out your digestive tract, speeds up your metabolism, and leaves your skin looking and feeling healthier.
The 14 Day Teatox from Lyfe Tea cost me $34.95. However, you get a coupon code if you sign up for emails. Thus, during checkout I received 15% off my total order.
The Tea Ingredients
*Information Taken From the Website*
Ingredients in Morning Lyfe Tea:
Moringa- Moringa oleifera is a superfood to beat all superfoods, even in its supplement form. The amount of anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatories, vitamins and minerals it contains is everything your body needs and more. Scientific research proves that one serving of moringa oleifera provides you with seven times the amount of vitamin C in oranges, four times the calcium in milk, four times the vitamin A in carrots, two times the protein in milk and three times the potassium found in bananas.
Yerba Mate- Yerba mate tea is very high in antioxidants; it's got about 90% more antioxidants than green tea. Yerba mate has significant immune boosting properties. Yerba mate also helps reduce stress and insomnia. Green Tea- Due to its minimal processing, green tea has a high concentration of antioxidants called polyphenols. One type of polyphenol compound is catechins, which are responsible for most of green tea's health effects. Its bioactive compounds are responsible for a wealth of benefits, from boosting blood vessel function to increasing bone mineral density.
Guarana- Guarana is employed as a stimulant, to relieve fatigue, to boost energy, aid concentration, and brighten mood. Guarana is used as a thermogenic (to boost metabolism for purposes of weight loss), and as an appetite suppressant.
Ginger- Ginger possesses numerous therapeutic properties including antioxidant effects, an ability to inhibit the formation of inflammatory compounds, and direct anti-inflammatory effects.
Lemon Peel-Lemon peel contains even more vitamins, nutrients, and health benefits than lemon juice. Lemon peels contain about 5 to 10 times more vitamins than lemon juice.
Ingredients in Detox Lyfe Tea:
Senna Leaf, Senna Pods- Senna contains glycosides, which are a group of organic compounds that are commonly found in plants. These compounds work as a laxative by smoothing the muscles as digested food moves through the intestines. This helps to move it out of the colon.
Dandelion Leaf -Dandelion Leaf (Taraxacum officinale) offers a number of benefits for the liver and gallbladder. A natural diuretic, Dandelion Leaf is commonly used to help remove excess water and toxins from the body.
Chamomile -The active ingredient in chamomile essential oil is known as bisabolol, which has a number of anti-irritant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-microbial properties.
Nettle Leaf - The root and leaves of the plant contain several identified compounds that are biologically active, including flavonoids such as quercetin that have antioxidant properties. Antioxidants help remove free radicals from your body; these unstable chemicals can damage your cellular membranes and DNA
During the Tox: Days 1-4
How to Make and What I Experienced
It is my first day of the detox and I must admit that I am pretty excited. I really need these migraines to go away so I hope it will help reduce or get rid of them.
In order to make the tea, you must first buy tea bags or a tea infuser. I got my tea infuser from Pier 1 Imports for $0.99-1.50 - it was on sale ;). You can find tea bags and other infusers at stores like Walmart, Target, Ross, T.J. Maxx, and Marshalls.
To brew, you place one tablespoon of the loose leaf tea in your bag/infuser. Then place the bag in AT LEAST AN 8oz cup of hot water for 5-10 minutes. I typically let my tea steep for 6 minutes. I drink my tea plain but you can add Truvia (a calorie-free sweetener made from the stevia leaf) or Agave (a natural sweetener). For more brewing instructions see the pictures below.
Thoughts and Experience:
7:30am: Morning Tea Time! When I first tasted the tea I noticed that I would HAVE to get use to the taste. It is very herbal and earthy. The taste is not a “con” in my opinion but it is certainly not a “pro” either.
10:00am: MUST. DRINK. MORE. WATER. The Lyfe Tea website suggests that you drink a lot of water throughout the detoxification process for great results.
11:00am: By this time I am STARVING! I already consumed my breakfast, snack and lunch. I don’t know if this is a side effect from the tea or due to the fact that I am eating a plant based diet.
1:00pm: Let it be known that I have used the bathroom 6 times today! I’m literally peeing like a sailor.
2:00pm: I was famished so I had to eat a snack.
5:00pm: Bowel movement #1
8:00pm: Woah, bowel movement #2!
8:30pm: Dinner and Detox Tea Time! The taste of the evening tea is even more herbal and earthy than the morning tea. After I finished the tea, I felt very relaxed and calm. It definitely has a soothing affect.
9:00pm: Bathroom break #9.
6:00am: My stomach is flatter! HOLY SH$T!! I guess they weren’t joking about helping me reduce bloating. This is great. I love it already. I still weigh the same but that is alright with me!
7:30am: Morning Tea Time
1:00pm: STARVING once again! I guess my metabolism is slowly speeding up because the smoothie (breakfast), rice cake w/ peanut butter (snack), and salad (lunch) I ate went right through me.
2:00pm: Still using the bathroom. I cannot go too far away from one or else who knows what will happen.
3:00pm: Bowel movement #1. No constipation!
4:00pm: Snack Time
8:30pm: Dinner and Detox Tea Time!
6:00am: My stomach is flatter still and I lost 2 pounds. *Happy dance*
7:30am: I am noticing that my skin is more radiant. I think the detox has something to do with it…BUT I also changed up my skin care regime so that is playing a part too!
10:00am: BATHROOM BREAK…can’t stop, won’t stop.
12:00pm: Finally eating my lunch at lunchtime. I’m eating more little snacks throughout the day so that I will not binge eat everything (that’s vegan) in sight.
1:00pm: Bowel movement #1
2:00pm: I found that I am extremely gassy! Could my body be eliminating toxins via flatuation?
4:00pm: Snack Time
6:30pm: During my workout today I felt more energized.
8:30pm: Dinner and Detox Tea Time!
That's all for now! I will return after the 14 days to give a in-depth review of the "teatox," discuss how much weight I lost, side effects, pros, cons, and much more! Stay tuned.
Until Next Time,
"Your life is happening now. So make it amazing!"
