Deep Drive Into Pinterest: Part Three

Taylor Talks - 9/21/2020

You are now a Pinterest Expert! If you missed any of the previous posts, read Part One and Part Two of this series now. I got an email with Pinterest advice for the holidays a while ago so I thought I would share it with you. This information really helped me refine my holiday tactics and keywords.

I will also share some Pinterest Marketing updates I got in an email too! Information is key.

The creators of the course Pinning Perfect created a great Holiday Keyword Cheat Sheet for you! It doesn't cost anything and it's an awesome resource. Covers holidays all the way through the New Year!

If you're unfamiliar with why keywording on Pinterest is so important, I'll sum it up:

Pinners are searching for ideas, dreams, plans, goals, recipes, and more. In order to find your content, they need to search for certain terms. We need to make sure your content has those terms so they can find you in a sea of pins. Keywords also help Pinterest categorize your content so they can show it to people who may not follow you, but are interested in the type of content you're producing.

These holiday keywords can be used in pin descriptions, on your blog or website, in blog post titles, your Pinterest board names, and more.

Browse through the list and see if you have any content that fits with some of the keywords, create content for the upcoming holidays around what's trending, even put a bit of a different seasonal spin on the content you already have.

This would also be a good time to take stock of your board names and descriptions on Pinterest. Make sure they're clear and concise and describe exactly what the board is about (no cutesy names!) and add some of these keywords if it fits the content.

Pinterest Marketing Updates

If you’ve been following Pinterest changes in the past year you already are familiar with Story Pins, but this past week Pinterest officially introduced this feature on the platform as a way for “creators to build and grow with Pinterest”.

Along with the launch of Story Pins in beta (officially), they also launched a new creator profile and analytics tools for tracking performance!

What else is new on Pinterest?

  • Pinterest set the record for daily downloads this week!

  • The pursuit to combat misinformation continues and is getting noticed by those who are frustrated with other platforms.

  • It Pays to Be Positive. Pinterest released a jam-packed report on why it is critical that you focus on a positive approach to reach your audience.

  • Pinterest UK - Learn about UK and Ireland’s Black-owned businesses, creators, allies, and underrepresented communities. Pinterest will be hosting the “Black Gold” event Wednesday, Oct 14th, 10 am - 2 pm BST.

  • Pinterest Australia - They have a report that came out this week unique to Aussies with all the spring season content to focus on now!

Content Creation Inspiration:

From phone wallpaper trends to mirror selfies, Pinterest is appealing more and more to the GenZers. Be thinking of how to tweak your content for this younger audience.
